Began studying violin, piano, and solfege at the age of 4. Diagnosed with autism in her childhood, she found a connection with society through playing the violin. Accompanying her abstract painter mother on sketching trips, she grew up playing the violin freely in nature, which influenced her free-spirited and expressive performance style, reminiscent of the great swells of nature. She was a member of a junior orchestra from ages 10 to 15. She won the top prize in a string quartet competition at a youth music festival in London. At that time, she was deeply moved and convinced that music exists between people when she was hugged one after another by the audience and received words of gratitude, awakening her to her own mission.
While studying classical music at Tokyo University of the Arts, she pursued her own music.
She presides over "Aska Strings" and, along with her original live activities, has participated in countless recordings and concert tours in rock, pop, jazz, film music, and more (with artists such as Motoharu Sano, Taeko Onuki, Tokiko Kato, Takako Matsu, Masaharu Fukuyama, Yosuke Yamashita, and in Miyazaki anime).
She served as the music director for the Japan Foundation's Pan-Asian project, Asian Fantasy, for 10 years.
She has performed in over 50 countries, including Asia and Africa with the Aska Acoustic Unit, the Japan-Korea Music Festival, the Middle East and the US (including Palestine) with Yoshiko Chuma's Unfinished Symphony (for which she won a Bessies Music Award for her music), the Asian Fantasy Asia Tour, Kazumi Watanabe's China tour, Akira Sakata's Mongolia tour, Natasha Gudzy's Kiev tour, Jane Birkin's earthquake relief Asia-America tour, and Gaia Cuatro's Europe tour.
She has also composed music for numerous plays, including "Caligula" (starring Masaki Suda, directed by Tamiya Kuriyama), "Iliad" (starring Seiyo Uchino, directed by Tamiya Kuriyama), and "Buddha" (starring Masanobu Takashima, directed by Tamiya Kuriyama). She is also active in composing and arranging, with numerous commercial songs for Suntory Natural Water, Ito En, and others, as well as arrangements for the Final Fantasy game series. She has also planned the Tohoku earthquake relief series "Hon Tsunagaru Mirai" (The Future Connected by Books), inviting authors such as Shuntaro Tanikawa, Eri Watanabe, and Motoyuki Shibata.
Recently, she has been active in a variety of live performances and promoting Japanese culture in her place of residence, St. Louis, USA, as well as on European and Japanese tours with the multinational group Gaia Cuatro, which has been active for 20 years, and with the ongoing Italian units Michele Fazio World Trio and Luz Trio.
In Japan, she is active in ongoing duo activities with Masaki Hayashi (Pf), Satoshi Kitamura (Bandoneon), Atsuki Yoshida (Vn, Val), and others, is a 15-year member of the No Nukes Gig executive committee with Akira Inoue and Natasha Gudzy, is in the ambient duo "A-Un," Haruka Strings, Miho Hazama's m-unit, the E.Violin trio RHM with Akira Inoue and Hideo Yamaki, and holds string instrument improvisation workshops and bodywork workshops for musicians.
In July 2024, she served as the concertmistress for the Maria Schneider Special Orchestra (Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre) to great acclaim.
She has released 41 CDs to date.
